THE MUSIC OF LIFE – CONNECTING HEARTS
OUR LIVE GATHERINGS AND CREATIVE OFFERINGS IN THE NETHERLANDS
For many years, Lightsong Inayatiyya has offered gatherings that bring people together through music, sacred poetry, storytelling, and the shared experience of community. Rooted in the universal Sufi tradition, these events celebrate the beauty that connects us across cultures, religions, and ways of life.
Many of our earlier concerts and cultural evenings were offered in support of humanitarian projects, including the Hope Project in India, founded by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan in the early 1980s. Through music, creative expression, shared meals, and friendship, we sought to nurture compassion, inspire hope, and strengthen our sense of belonging to one human family.
Over the years, monthly gatherings were held at the Sufi Center in The Hague and later at the Soefi Huis in Haarlem, often in collaboration with friends from Sufi Contact and Rumi Today. These evenings featured artists from many traditions—Indian classical music, Persian ghazals, Turkish Sufi music, sacred chant, poetry, storytelling, and contemplative dance.
Today, rather than a regular monthly series, we offer occasional special events and musical gatherings throughout the year. Each one is an invitation to pause, listen deeply, and celebrate the universal language of the heart.
Whether you join us for an intimate concert, a cultural evening, or a community celebration, we hope you will experience something of the joy, beauty, and kinship that music has the power to awaken.
